Community Composting Station Update – October 2018

Local kitchen scrap contributor Jack collecting the first batch of compost produced by the Community Composting Station.

The inaugural “Community Compost Collection” held on Sunday 7 October 2018 was great!

About 600L of compost was returned to people in the local community who had contributed their kitchen scraps to the Community Composting Station (CCS).

Jack, a local contributor to the CCS, rode his bike down to the CCS with a bucket on the handlebars, and went home with a bucket full of high quality compost for his garden.

He was particularly happy about keeping valuable nutrients local and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
